History of Bellefort

The old St. Trudo Church in Strijp - at Strijpsestraat 156 - had such a small tower that church bells could not be hung in it.
That is why a so-called luihuis was built in 1809, in which two heavy bells were hung.
This luihuis was also called Bellefort and it was located approximately on the corner of Trudoplein-Schootsestraat .
